We often field kids cooking questions such as, “What does a typical class look like?” or “Do I drop my child off for class or do parents stay?” or “How do I teach my child to cook?” We have curated all of our most frequently asked questions and provided answers for you on our FAQ page.
A typical Sprouts class is two hours long. During that time, children will learn about food basics and develop culinary skills that allow them to try new recipes and gain the confidence to prepare foods at home. In total, students will make 3 to 4 recipes per class, and they will also take home a recipe card of one of the dishes that they have learned in class that day so they can practice the recipe at home with their parents.
All your child needs to bring is a LABELED water bottle, as they do get thirsty when they eat and cups tend to spill…a lot! 😉 We do all of the grocery shopping, classroom setup, cooking prep, and clean up! All you need to provide is your Sprouting Chef!
Absolutely! Our school strives to provide an interactive, safe, and exciting environment for our kids. Sprouting Chefs use age-appropriate culinary tools in preparing their food and will receive the appropriate level of adult guidance and support to successfully make their recipes.

Sprouts is a drop-off class (unless of course it is a *designated* Mommy and Me style class). After a lot of experience, we feel this creates the best learning environment for the children and avoids a lot of distractions in the classroom. We do have a “Family Dinner” on the last night of each semester class where parents are invited to come into the school and sample some of their child’s cooking!
Students are divided into 3 age groups. Lil Sprouts (Ages 3-5), Junior Sprouts (Ages 6-8), and Tween Sprouts (Ages 9-13).
Sprouts classes are for children ages 3-13.
Yes, we do, although available dates are limited to when the studio isn’t otherwise booked. If you have a Brownie or Girl Scout troop, a mom’s group, or if you simply want to schedule a class with a group of friends, you can absolutely contact us to schedule a private event! We require a minimum of 9 students to book a private event. Brownie Troops, Girl Scout Troops and Homeschool Groups *only* are eligible for a 10% discount but the minimum number of children must still be 9.

Yes, we will offer Mommy-and-Me classes beginning this fall!
We have several options! First, you can always check back on our website for updates. Also, we try to post everything to social media sites as well, so be sure to “Like” us on Facebook and “Follow Us” on Instagram and Twitter. Sprouts also has a YouTube channel that includes videos of some of our recipes. You can also sign up for our e-Newsletter! If all else fails, feel free to contact us directly.
Here at Sprouts, we are unique in that the food for our classes is ordered well in advance of each class, and we also purchase that food (as well as staff our teachers) based upon the number of children participating in each class. Additionally, we have limited space for each of our classes, so once a spot for a class is sold, that means someone else can’t purchase that spot and we are unable to re-sell spaces effectively. Due to these operational costs, the fact that our food is perishable, and that our classes have limited space, ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE.

In the event any Sprouts class, camp, birthday party, or MemberChef® program is cancelled for reasons beyond our control, including but not limited to inclement weather, natural disaster, pandemic (including due to COVID-19), government-issued order and/or insufficient number of participants, YOUR REGISTRATION WILL BE CREDITED TOWARDS A FUTURE CLASS, CAMP, BIRTHDAY PARTY, OR MEMBERCHEF® PROGRAM. WE DO NOT ISSUE REFUNDS.
Individual Classes. We are understanding that kids get sick or that plans may change for unforeseen reasons. If this happens and you expect to miss a single session class, we require that you provide Sprouts with WRITTEN notice to email@example.com forty-eight (48) hours prior to your missed event. If you have to miss an individual class, and you have notified us within 48 hours, you will receive a credit. We will keep the credit of your purchase on file until the end of that calendar year. This amount can be applied towards a future camp, class, or any other event. However, please note that if you need to change to a different class, for any reason and regardless of notice, you will be charged a $15 change order fee for each single session class purchase.
No-shows and/or cancellations within 48-hours of the class CANNOT AND WILL NOT be credited as food will have already been purchased, we will have already staffed for the event, and we are unable to re-sell the space effectively.
Camps. We are understanding that kids get sick or that plans may change for unforeseen reasons. If this happens and you expect to miss an ENTIRE camp (in other words, not simply 1 day, but all 4 days), we require that you provide Sprouts with WRITTEN notice to firstname.lastname@example.org two (2) weeks prior to your missed camp. Please note: we do NOT offer makeup days for individual camp days that are missed. If you have to miss an ENTIRE camp, and you have notified us 2 weeks prior to your camp, you will receive a credit. We will keep the credit of your purchase on file until the end of that calendar year. This amount can be applied towards a future camp, class, or any other event. However, please note that if you need to change to a different camp, for any reason and regardless of notice, you will be charged a $50 change fee for each camp purchased.
No-shows and/or cancellations within 2 weeks of the camp CANNOT AND WILL NOT be credited as food will have already been planned and or purchased, we will have already staffed for the event, and since our summer camps sell months in advance we are unable to re-sell the space effectively.
Birthday Parties. If you have reserved a birthday party and subsequently need to reschedule the date, please provide written notice to email@example.com. However, please note that if you need to change to a different date for the birthday party, we charge a $50 change fee to change birthday party dates.
Any birthday party cancellations are NON-REFUNDABLE and NO CREDITS toward future purchases can be given unless we are able to book a party to take your time slot.
MemberChef®. MemberChef® is a monthly session based membership plan paid by monthly automatic electronic payment (credit card or debit card). Monthly memberships will automatically renew each month at the same payment terms and billing date established at the time of enrollment. Any changes to the plan, or cancellation must be received thirty (30) days in advance of next billing cycle or plan expiration date. It is the member’s responsibility to monitor membership expiration and renewal dates.
While the MemberChef® program can be cancelled at any time, it is a subscription-based program that will auto-bill each month. This is a program with a curriculum that builds upon itself each month and is not intended to be a short-term program to be cancelled after just 1-2 months. Should you need to cancel for whatever reason, all cancellation requests must be submitted IN WRITING to firstname.lastname@example.org and received thirty (30) days prior to your credit/debit card processing date. All MemberChef® subscriptions require a minimum of 30 days prior to the next billing date to assure cancellation of automatic payments. Cancellation requests submitted within the 30-day billing cycle will result in a final payment drawn you’re your account on your established auto draft date. Once final payment has been drawn from your account, clients will have 30 days from the last bill date to attend the Sprouts classes. It is your responsibility to provide written notice 30 days in advance of your next billing date. There will be no refund issued once a payment has been charged to your credit card.
No-shows for individual MemberChef® classes CANNOT AND WILL NOT be credited or refunded as food will have already been purchased, we will have already staffed for the event, and the curriculum is different week to week. Sprouts will not provide refunds retroactively for any cancellation requests. MemberChef® cancellations are only processed by sending the Cancellation Request Form to email@example.com. Sprouts does not issue refunds if you do not use your membership, nor can you carry over sessions to the next month if you missed a class. No exceptions.
Absolutely!!! Students will eat all the food they make in class. Sometimes, a food is new to a child but we encourage all of our students to try at least one bite of the food they prepare!
Snow happens, rain happens, but we cook on! Unless there is a travel “WARNING” issued for Hamilton County, we will remain open and class will be in session. In the very rare instance that we are closed, customer purchases will be transferred to another class. If there is inclement weather and class is in session and you make the decision to not come to class unfortunately your purchase cannot be credited towards another class. We do not issue refunds.
At Sprouts Cooking School, the safety of our customers and The Sprouts Team members is our #1 priority! Sprouts has worked hard to develop the following measures and procedures to be proactive in light of COVID-19. Here is what we are doing:
Safety measures The Sprouts Team is taking:
- All customers and staff will be required to wear face masks during class. Masks will be removed to eat and then will be put back on
- Staff will be administering touchless temperature checks to students upon entry to the building. Students with a temperature above 100.4 will not be allowed to participate.
- Increasing the frequency and extent of our cleaning practices with EPA-approved disinfectants
- Washing hands frequently with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds
- Cleaning frequently used surfaces
- Having more in-depth conversations with our students about proper food handling and sanitation
- Requiring employees to stay home if they are ill, showing any symptoms or if believe they have been exposed to illness
- Requiring employees to take their temperature before reporting to work
- Closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health officials for appropriate measures and actions
- Educating our employees on preventive measures provided by the CDC
- Requiring children to wash their hands for 20 seconds upon arrival and throughout class
- Limiting the amount of people in our facility to children and 2-4 staff members. Parents and guardians will not be allowed inside the building. Instructors will open the door before and after class to release children.
- Increasing the time between classes for thorough sanitation.
- Requiring employees to wear masks and gloves during food preparation.
What we encourage our customers to do:
- Wash your hands frequently and use paper towel to dry
- Take your child’s temperature the morning of their scheduled class
- Avoid touching nose, mouth, eyes and wash hands if you do
- Stay home when you or anyone in your family is sick or has any Covid-like symptoms
- Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze, dispose of the tissue and wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and hot water
- Wear a mask or face covering to any class
- Face masks will be provided to students who do not come to class with a mask. We charge $2 per mask
