Christmas Tree Bark
December 16, 2015I am so stinkin excited about this blog post and video! I came up with the idea for Elf on the Shelf food months ago and it has been just painful waiting to share it with you!
In our house we have an Elf named Eggnog.
(Here he is sipping on a little hot cocoa)
One night last year, Eggnog didn’t fly back to the North Pole (all us Moms and Dads can understand this, am I right?). Well, we told the kids he must have been hungry and lost his magic and that is why he didn’t have the energy to fly back to Santa. Well, let me tell you, Eggnog was VERY well fed after that! He had chocolate chips, dried cranberries, mini marshmallows, etc. If it was small and sweet (because elves only like small, sweet food, ya know), he ate it!
Fast forward to this year and the opening of Sprouts, and I started thinking of the holidays when it hit me…how adorable would it be if kids made tiny food for their Elf on the Shelf?! Well, I’m here to tell you that when kids make it, it is REALLY adorable! I have made it in two different classes with my students at Sprouts and they were literally squealing with delight. They suddenly became these little chatterboxes telling me every detail about their elf. What its name is, what it likes to do at night, how funny it is, how much he/she is going to love this food!
Have I ever told you how much I love kids–they are just the best and honestly I am sitting at my computer smiling like a fool remembering every one of those kiddos and how much fun they had. One little girl said to me, “So your job is to think of ideas like making food for elves and then you teach it to kids?” Yes, sweetheart, I’m a pretty lucky lady!
So, if you want to see your kids’ faces light up like a Christmas tree (sorry, I really couldn’t help the pun), do yourselves a favor and make this Elf on a Shelf Hot Cocoa together! It super easy and oh so adorable!
