Elf on the Shelf® “Hot Cocoa”

Ingredients

For the Icing:

  • 1 Tablespoon shortening
  • 1 Tablespoon butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ teaspoon milk

For the “Hot Cocoa”:

  • 1 Rolo
  • Icing
  • 3 mini marshmallows (from instant hot cocoa packet)
  • 1 candy cane, crushed
  • 1 mini pretzel (like Rold Gold Tiny Twists)

Directions

Using an electric mixer, combine the shortening and butter in a small bowl and blend until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk, and blend until all ingredients are mixed thoroughly. For the “hot cocoa”, unwrap the Rolo and place a small dollop of icing on top (you can use a toothpick if it helps you). Place the mini marshmallows on top of the icing. Put the candy cane in a Ziploc bag and crush it. Sprinkle the candy cane pieces on top of the icing. For the pretzel, break the small curved part to create a “handle” for the cocoa. Attach the curved pretzel piece to the side of the Rolo with icing (it’s fragile!). Set the cocoa next to your Elf on the Shelf for him or her to enjoy and to give some extra magic to fly back to Santa!
